Even though we here in America want the Constitution followed by the law, it isn’t always done. Thank God we have courts that we can go to fight for our rights if we feel they have been violated. Our Constitution guarantees us certain rights like freedom of speech and freedom to protest peacefully.
Our Constitution is our blood brothers who fought to set us free from England’s rule. They wanted every American to have the same God-given rights as we know them today and forevermore to come.
The First Amendment of the United States Constitution protects the right to freedom of religion and freedom of expression from government interference. It prohibits any laws that establish a national religion, impede the free exercise of religion, abridge the freedom of speech, infringe upon the freedom of the press, interfere with the right to peaceably assemble, or prohibit citizens from petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances. It was adopted into the Bill of Rights in 1791. The Supreme Court interprets the extent of the protection afforded to these rights. The First Amendment has been interpreted by the Court as applying to the entire federal government even though it is only expressly applicable to Congress. Furthermore, the Court has interpreted the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment as protecting the rights in the First Amendment from interference by state governments.
The Russian people are being arrested by the thousands in Russia protesting the war. There Constitution is supposed to guarantee them the right to free speech. Putin seems to be their Constitution. He does whatever fits what he wants.
1. Everyone shall be guaranteed the freedom of ideas and speech.
2. The propaganda or agitation instigating social, racial, national or religious hatred and strife shall not be allowed. The propaganda of social, racial, national, religious or linguistic supremacy shall be banned.
3. No one may be forced to express his views and convictions or to reject them.
4. Everyone shall have the right to freely look for, receive, transmit, produce and distribute information by any legal way. The list of data comprising state secrets shall be determined by a federal law.
5. The freedom of mass communication shall be guaranteed. Censorship shall be banned.
This is just a little of their Constitution, which I don’t think it’s worth the paper it is printed on. The Russian people most of the time are kept out of the loop of what their Government (Putin) is doing. While some do learn the truth they are afraid to say anything because they may be imprisoned.
As we say, the proof is in the pudding.
Russian authorities have arrested 8,100 people at anti-war protests that have broken out across the country, according to a local source.
OVD-Info, an independent human rights project focused on political persecution in Russia, published the figure on Wednesday. In Moscow, just under 4,000 people have been arrested while over 2,700 were arrested in Saint Petersburg. The other arrests come from an additional 124 cities, according to the report.
The arrests come after Russia has increased its efforts at stifling any opposition to the government’s invasion of Ukraine, which has included blocking media outlets.
One anti-war activist in Russia, Tatyana Usmanova, asked Ukrainians for forgiveness after Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a “special military operation” in Ukraine on Feb. 24, saying “our confrontation with these [Ukrainian] forces is inevitable.”
“I want to ask Ukrainians for forgiveness. We didn’t vote for those who unleashed the war,” she said.
Our younger generation needs to pay attention to what is going on right now in Ukraine, and whenever they want to cry about how unfair things are to them, all they have to do is watch and learn. This is the greatest and most powerful nation in the world. Our rights are guaranteed no matter what.
